The Ohio Christmas Tree Association wrapped up a very successful Winter Meeting on January 23, 2010 at Kottman Hall on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus. Listed below are the highlights of the awards that were presented during the business meeting.
Each year we hold a ‘Golden Light Bulb” session during the winter meeting. Members have the opportunity to share unique ideas that have popped into the minds of members thereby turning on a mental light allowing them to visualize a new way to work smarter rather than harder. This year’s winner was Ruth Ann Manners of Manners Pine Tree Lodge in Ashtabula County. This year’s photo contest also showcased the talents of our members. Winners in this year’s contest include: Swan Farm, Kaleidoscope Farms in Hancock County, The Cambridge Trading Company in Guernsey County , Cackler Family Farms LLC in Delaware County and Scheetz Tree Farm, Inc located in Coshocton County.
The OCTA board of Directors also met prior to the winter meeting. Leadership for the upcoming year includes the following:
President: Dave Reese of Kaleidoscope Farms (Hancock County)
Vice President: Bill Cackler of Cackler Family Farms (Delaware County)
Secretary: Mary Jan Perdulla of Pioneer Trails Tree Farm (Mahoning County)
Treasurer: Avery Wilcox III of Wilcox Farms (Lorain County)
Greg Dush of Pine Tree Barn and Farms was also welcomed as a new board member.
Each year the OCTA recognizes an individual that goes beyond the call of duty to promote the Christmas tree industry . This year the association inducted John Henson of Henson’s Hideaway in Ashtabula County as the OCTA Hall of Fame inductee. (Photo shown to the right.)
